The clothing of books - Jhumpa and I, a conversation

The Sophie’s choice of an author

As I design the cover design of my first book, I read Jhumpa’s clothing of the books to get ideas and awakening.

She puts together some great thoughts and experiences from her books and their covers. She calls it an interpretation of the book. dialogue between author and artist. An optical echo of the texts.

I spoke to some good friends with experiences as readers, writers and artists. Eventually you find a group of like minded people - the more you evolve and reach out.

I like how this person said that a cover is the trailer of the book and I couldn’t agree more. My mother would say just put a buri nazar demon face to protect from evil eye.

It was sad to know that Jhumpa didn’t have a say in the cover of her books. Disowning the hundreds of versions and interpretations. I was surprised to k kw she didn’t have a single one shown or mentioned as a favorite.

I am glad I decided to self publish. I have full control over my destiny. If paperback printing happened directly from Amazon. It’s self publishing with some help.

My book cover will be
- real
- illustrated story
- nostalgia
- show theme of keepsake
- show theme of people and stories
- vintage or retro
- show theme of colorful life with sepia shades
- show old photos
- show theme of a life full of stories
- appealing to book lovers
- international appeal
- light and quirky
