Professor Ashwatthama -Rebirth of Ravana -
Mahabharata, Chengis Khan, Ravana, Homi Bhabha, RAW, and the Zombies. Is it possible for all these to exist in one universe. If you answer no then you must be introduced to the world of Diamond Comics. Our home grown Indian version of Marvel and DC have their own Desi superheroes. The latest one is Professor Ashwatthama. Does Professor remind you of someone?
Despite the inspiration from many international fantasy, fictional characters and plots, the comic packs a punch. It is nice to see that we are able to draw concepts from our mythology and mix them with international themes of super heroes saving the world from super villains.
The graphic art is sharp although a tad overlapping rather than boxed versions of yore. The dialogues are full of boom, bamn and clink sounds. Many characters are introduced in a matter of a page flip. There is also a token woman character to showcase the diversity candidate in a man’s world. She is smart but is never taken seriously as you would expect from men with brawn but brains.
I am a 40 year old and I still love comics. But you can’t expect me to have the same fun as an 8 year old with a comic book. So I would definitely buy this for my nephews who will eagerly await for the next part of the series. This is designed to appeal to them. It makes comic making such an easy thing that they would also love to create and publish one.
So I asked my nephew Aarav. I am sure you also have one of this kind. An introvert quiet book reader. He found it ‘Good’ the boys only word. Then I had to force a review out of him by asking questions. Will you recommend the book to another? Will you wait for the second part? He said yes to most. He said Chengiz Khan was his favorite character. I was once told that most of us are descenedents of Chengiz. He attached a lot of central west Asia and had hundreds of women and thousands of children of no count.
True or myth or just folk tales. These are the stories that become part of our lives and history. Especially comic books are an essential part of our childhood. We can outgrow them but they continue to be part of our memories.
Ps this is an author requested review. I am honest when appreciating the book. Please do buy for your pre teens ♥️
