My Daily news

Every morning like most people slave to their habits, I sit with my cuppa of tea and the daily newspaper. It’s not a brand endorsement my preferred news paper is Times of India. It’s not only news but entertainment, entertainment and entertainment!

The front page is a general favorite and sets the tone of the reading experience. A sensational headline makes the reader relish in the length and breadth of it. There could be so much masala and Tamasha that it spills over another page at the back. Guaranteeing a long satisfying read!

Next comes the editorial for me. I really like opinions of people. There is a certain expectation that editorials are unbiased and fair views of experts and specialists. However nothing is sans bias. As soon as it becomes an individual opinion it’s subject to bias. There could be statistical research and surveys backing some of the articles. It’s still necessary to filter. A group of people can also be wrong even with a majority.

The next best page is International news. I am a millennial and for me globalisation is a reality. How india stands next to the world is important for Me. The wars, famine, earthquake, flood, colonization, civil unrest, me too, famous festivals, political turmoil and global warming. Everything is essential to know. Remember Vasudeva Kutumbha. We live in our house but we still live in a bigger world!

The final and foremost is the Business page. Thankfully it’s not as technical and pale yellow like economic times. Giving necessary information to a financial amateur like Me. It’s also entertaining as inflation, forex rates, Budget announcements, GDP predictions, Stock market movements, start ups and bankruptcies keep the economy world busy. As an educated and financially keen citizen, some business know how is important.

Finally a lot of the people especially men will gorge on the sports page. Reading about wins, losses, average and trade analysts talking post match analysis. It’s mostly because I don’t play any sport so I don’t want to know about it’s competitive scores. However I have great respect for those who do!

Then in between these pages you find Day to day horror stories.

About a pit bull who bit and killed her 80 year old woman owner. About a man who boiled his wife in a cauldron in front of his children. They could very well be horror stories and can happen to anyone.  I won’t be surprised if we also have a section on ghosts and superstitions. They also make quite a news. But news has only the quality of truth. Not fiction! Entertainment is still a pre requisite!

This is my daily newspaper time. Today was a good one and I happened to write a blog too on my experience!
