A Book fair
How I have missed a good book fair. While Copenhagen library was a prized possession. The inability to find fellow English readers is what I missed the most, and possibly book fairs. The walk itself is so mesmerising. Picking up that quirky book from the line of buffets. And they also have Hindi, Marathi other than the anglophone heritage of India - the English. I love a good book which ever language, however I would like to see good books. The ones that come in regional languages are mostly self help non fiction translations.
Come on let’s broaden our regional literature and encourage stories from the hinterlands.
Recently I saw two movies which bring novels from the Indian small towns. Small stories of small people. Bareily ki Barfi and Haseen Dilruba. I must say the stories were interesting and so were the characters. These book fairs are important to popularise our local and international authors. So if you are in Mumbai from 6 to 16th august, head out to Sunderbai Hall, Churchgate with more than 1,00,000 titles.
Enjoy the corona times with some good reading. Time read is fine enriched!
