Amora

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

A friend sent me a book blog which allowed to download free e-Books. And that’s how I found Amora a collection of short stories on lesbian love stories. Ranging from teen lesbians, to discreet aunts, family taboos, secret relationships, exotic lovers, failed marriages, religious connotations, lesbian diaspora, liberated sexuality of art world or coming of age exploration of sexuality. There is a range of short stories to familiarise the form of love which is newly spoken off and as natural as any so called ‘normal’ loving and not only about sex.

Long back I had picked up a book based on a lesbian. It disappointed me as it turned out to be more about a woman with a failed marriage nursing hatred of all men, finding love with another woman. I am no one to judge any one’s way to love but I don’t agree lesbian or feminism is about hating men. That kept me away from any lesbian fiction for a long time before I found this collection of tastefully written beautiful short stories.

Reminding me of experiences and hearsay stories of people around me who found love with the same sex. It’s just beautiful when you find that people have their happy endings despite all the social stigma and legal barriers against it. And some stories remain hidden and never spoken of, and that’s why we need more people to read the lesbian fiction so we can give voice to these covert stories and acceptance of anyone who wants to love the way they want to.

Side note, the last few stories seem like diary entries of mental monologues, prose or random attempts to love poetry. However they were lost on me and I was just glad that they were more of flash fiction and ended soon.
