Kkrishnaa’s Konfessions, Smita Jain

Saucy, pacey and spicy

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Author: Smita Jain

Chiclit meets crime fiction meets soap opera meets bollywood meets politics meets CID.

The standard chiclit heroine - smart (to the point of dumb) strong (yet a damsel) funny (smart mouth with foot in mouth) and quirky (has to be odd ball). She is loud mouth, with imagination of a vamp, ready to be coy or a slut in a matter of minutes, takes risk and always somehow manages to be saved, is no chaste but judges all the women around as characterless. She has all the deficiencies to be considered a heroine and is yet no different to being the murder victim at every turn and twist. Smita Jain is a good writer indeed keeping it pacey, spicy and hooked. Imagine using Tender is the night or Great Gatsby as a plot for a soap, but then again everything now is a reproduction or remix version of old.

In summary, all the ingredients to be made into a masala bollywood Film. Although I can’t stop imagining Sonam Kapoor again as the protagonist with one of the latest eye candy (aka Fawad or Dulquer) easily fitting into the hero Role.

I picked this up as a guilt pleasure and to  keep my mind off the depressing corona second wave. I can tell you being in a crime series and watching people being murdered is less stressful than being in this horrible Corona. Everything else is better, literally. Now I am craving for more such stress free and scandalous confessions.
